Dr. Sekhejane holds a Doctoral degree in Health Sciences from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a medical technologist who specialised in Biophotonics, with advanced training from the University of Illinois, US.
Dr. Sekhejane is currently a Research Specialist at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) at the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA) and a Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg at the Mycotoxin and Applied Sciences Research Unit, Faculty of Sciences. She is also a Member of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) on Women and Gender Cluster and formed part of the Scientific and Organising Committee of the first Gender Summit in Africa in 2015.
Dr. Sekhejane’s current research interests include: health sciences, innovation and biomedical technology with particular focus on public health, and gender parity in sciences.
