Mr. Gadnayak holds a Master Degree in Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and a M.Phil from the Central Institute of Psychiatry, India.
Mr. Gadnayak currently works as a State Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator at UNICEF in India. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Gadnayak gained extensive experience in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation by working for the UN (UN, UNISDR, UNDP) in Gambia, India and Thailand. While in India, he held a number of positions, including in Academia and at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The main focus of his work has included: the Institutional and Policy Landscapes of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in South Asia, coordination of the inter-governmental agencies work (i.e. ASEAN, SAARC), working on the Asia Pacific Disaster Report. Mr. Gadnayak has authored and co-authored multiple publications.
